Aurora House provides a safe haven and essential services for victims of domestic violence and their children. Our 24/7 crisis line offers immediate support, while our emergency and second-stage accommodations ensure a secure environment.

We offer a variety of services including counseling, child support programming, a cell phone program, assistance in obtaining protection orders, and referrals to other support services. Our public workshops and presentations aim to raise awareness about domestic and dating violence.

Aurora House is a confidential resource for discussing protection planning, the impacts of abuse on family members, or one’s own abusive behavior. We also provide opportunities for employment and training for individuals committed to eliminating domestic violence.

Keeping you and your children safe from violence

  • Recognize danger signs: Be aware of potential threats such as weapons in the home and understand the warning signs of escalating violence.
  • Protect your tech: Ensure your smart phones, computers, and other devices are secure to maintain your privacy and safety.
  • Plan escape routes: Know the safe places in your home and have clear escape routes in case of emergency.
  • Seek support: There is no shame in being a victim. Inform trusted friends, family, and co-workers about your situation and include them in your protection plan.
  • Identify safe locations: Determine where you will go for safety and how you will get there. Nursing stations are valuable resources, and Aurora House can assist with transportation to the shelter.
  • Prioritize immediate safety: If there is immediate danger, call the police without hesitation. Don’t waste time packing; your life and your children’s lives are irreplaceable. Have an emergency grab bag ready with essential items like money, medications, identification, and legal documents. Aurora House can provide basic necessities if you can’t bring them.
