Online Safety Planning
Protecting your digital privacy is essential, especially if you suspect your online activities are being monitored. Aurora House recommends:
-
Using Secure Computers
Access sensitive information from devices your abuser cannot reach, such as those at a workplace, friend's residence, or public library.
-
Maintaining Consistent Browsing Habits
Avoid sudden changes that might raise suspicion, and be cautious when deleting browsing history.
-
Securing Communications
Prefer phone calls over emails or texts for confidential discussions.Instead, call our crisis line at 1-877-977-0007. Corded phones are more secure than cordless ones, and newer digital cordless phones offer more security than older analog models.
-
Change your password often
Avoid using obvious words or numbers for your password. Use a combination of letters and numbers for added security.
